The Tuwaiq Escarpment forms a system of extensive canyons which cuts through the sandstone of
Central Arabia. It starts from Buraydah in the north and extends around
1,000 km close to the northwestern
edge of 'Rub Al Khali' (The Empty Quarter), south of As Sulayyil.

Fossils found at the limestone beds of Tuwaiq at 'Edge
of the World'.
This "favia farus" like coral with its closely packed and clearly
separate polyps can be seen in plenty in the waters of Farasan Islands
in the Red Sea. |
